West Family Sheep and Bantams

         The West Family Farm is located in Huntsville, Tennessee. We are located in the beautiful mountain of East Tennessee. Our farm in located on one of the highest elevations in the area.

           The Farming operation is a family operation. We all take part in the day to day operations and care for livestock. The use of Draft Horse Power has been an important part out Family Farm. The first tractor was not purchased until March of 2005. Before that time all hay, hauling, and plowing was done with horse power

         We began raising Dorset in 1991 as a 4-H Project (for Jeremy) since that time Dorset have been the main focus on our farm. Then in 2006 we introduced Shropshires, and 2007 the introduction on Bantams.

 

           Over the years we have had much success in the Show Ring. At the Tennessee State Fair we have received the Top Tennessee Breeder Award for 7 years, and Both Tennessee Champion Dorset Ram and Ewe. At the Appalachian Fair in Gray Tennessee, we have been premier exhibitor in the Dorset Breed 11 of the past 12 years (in 1997 we did not exhibit at the Appalachian Fair).
